The House Behind The Cedars by Charles W. Chestnutt is about the struggles people of color faced during the 1900’s. If you were white passing like Rena Walden and her brother John Warwick you were rewarded more experiences. This is one of my favorite novels from Charles Chestnutt, it has many plot twist.
